Today 360 children from Karelia and different parts of Russia became Cadets of the Petrozavodsk Presidential School.
"Nikolay Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Nikolai Pankov, Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia, Arthur
Parfenchikov, Acting Head of the Republic of Karelia, Valentina Pivnenko, State Duma Deputy, and others took part in the opening of the important educational institution.
Nikolay Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, who made a decision to build a cadet school in Petrozavodsk, addressed the President of Russia
with words of gratitude.
"In these classrooms, our cadets will receive the necessary knowledge base, which will be useful to them in life and as they enter higher educational institutions.
Teachers will teach how to be true patriots, solve complex problems and take responsibility," said Nikolay Patrushev.
Nikolay Pankov, Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia, noted that the creation of a Cadet School in Petrozavodsk is the final step in the establishing of a network
of presidential cadet schools throughout the country.
"The school is equipped to the most up-to-date standards, and the most highly qualified staff will work here: teachers, educators, schoolmasters of additional education,"
Nikolay Pankov added.
After the ceremony of transferring the banner of the Petrozavodsk Cadet School and a video greeting to the Petrozavodsk cadets from Orenburg, Kyzyl, Krasnodar and Stavropol
colleagues, all the possibilities of the new educational institution were shown to the high guests.
All the facilities necessary for successful study, comfortable living and sports are created in the school: comfortable and cozy rooms for living with dressing rooms and showers,
leisure facilities equipped with board games, large bright classrooms for lessons, laboratories, workshops for robotics and auto repair workers.
"We are waiting for the best cadets here! Guys from different regions of Russia came here. Karelia will become their second home. We will take care of the children as of our own.
We will form our traditions as Petrozavodsk is a city of military factories. 'Petrozavodsk is famous!', Suvorov once said. And now Petrozavodsk is also famous for the
Petrozavodsk Cadet School," said Artur Parfenchikov, the Acting Head of Karelia.
The Presidential Cadet School will provide a year-round cycle of education and residence on full state support. In the first academic year, 360 cadets of 5, 6, 7 grades will live
and work in the constructed buildings.
The distinctive architectural feature of the School in Petrozavodsk is the Alley of Glory, dedicated to the heroic events that took place at different times in Karelia. A memorial
stele with the emblem of the Ministry of Defense of Russia is installed in the center of a small square near the drill square. The first cadets will give her the place.
By August 2018, the constructors have to build another 4 dormitories, a sports complex with an ice rink and a swimming pool. An open stadium with a football field, running tracks
and tribunes for 500 seats, grounds for basketball and volleyball, tennis and badminton, mini football and handball, table tennis and power training equipment will be constructed.
After the construction is finally completed, the school will be able to receive 840 young men.
