On November 1, a presentation of the Republic of Karelia, the region with a rich history and unique nature, took place in Beijing.
Yui Weiguo, the Governor of Fujian Province, and members of the official delegation of Fujian Province, Andrei Denisov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
of the Russian Federation to the People's Republic of China, representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the delegation of the Republic of Karelia,
officials of Chinese authorities, organizations and enterprises, guests and representatives of the leading Chinese media took part in the event.
"Many industrial enterprises are functioning in our republic, and metallurgy, woodworking and paper production are the predominant industries. At the end of 2016,
there was a steady growth in the volume of industrial production. Joint projects in the sphere of industry, electric power, forestry and tourism can be referred to
promising areas of cooperation," the Head of the Republic said in his welcoming speech.
Artur Parfenchikov noted that the efforts of the Government of Karelia are aimed at creating an investment favor. "We are ready to assist in the development of joint
Russian-Chinese entrepreneurship in the territory of Karelia in various types of economic activity," he said.
Speaking about the development of the tourism industry, Artur Parfenchikov mentioned beautiful historical monuments of Karelia: Vottovaara ridge, Ruskeala marble canyon,
"Marcial Waters", and Kizhi. The Head of the Republic invited the guests to enjoy the rich culture of our multiethnic region and see the places that are unique in their
beauty with their own eyes.
Leonid Liminchuk, the General Director of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Karelia, spoke about the innovative and export capacity of the Republic. Natalya
Ivankova, the General Director of the Karelian Fish Factories enterprise, and the entrepreneur Vladimir Fedorenko spoke about the development of aquaculture, and Anatoly
Voronin, the Rector of Petrozavodsk State University, spoke about the prospects of cooperation in the fields of science and education.
The highlight of the presentation of the Republic of Karelia was tasting of the national cuisine. Dmitry Ilyin, the chef of the restaurant "Frigate", described the
traditions of the Karelian national cuisine, which was formed over many centuries, and peculiarities of cooking the most popular dishes.
It the end, Artur Parfenchikov thanked all the guests for participating in the presentation and called the Chinese partners for mutually beneficial cooperation and
implementation of investment projects on the territory of the Republic of Karelia.
