Sergey Stepashin in Karelia
At the end of the last week the Minister of Home Affairs of Russia Sergey Stepashin was in Petrozavodsk.
He met with the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov, in the course of the meeting they discussed in details the beginning of the experiment on the territory of our Republic on the creation of municipial militia..
Sergey Stepashin took part in the work of the board of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Karelia. There he introduced the new Minister Igor Yunush. In his brief greeting speech the Russian Minister pointed out: "Yunush is a brave, honest, decent person, a high class professionalist and it is very important at present.."
The Deputy of Minister of Home Affairs of Karelia Eugeniy Pekky made a report on the situation in Karelia. The Russian Minister interfered him with specific and sharp questions, showing that the Russian Minister is in detail aware about the situation in Karelia. The General-colonel Stepashin determined the main goals for the Karelian militia. They are: to make people stop the production of illegal vodka, stop the activities of mafia groups, to struggle against corruption in economic sphere, the strenthening of interaction between all of law and order structures. " "Creat any sructures in your Ministry within the limits of the current staff number, experiment, there is no need to copy the Russian Mininstry, the main goal is that your work should be productive"",- Sergey Stepashin highlighted. He promised any required support - financial, material, moral- and demanded tough attitude towards the criminals. In his reoprt the Head of the Gvernment of Karelia Sergey Katanandov stated that he expects the realistic assistanse of the co-workers of the Karelian militia in bringing the law and order to the Republic, especially in the economical sphere and in the field of forest industry.. ""We should remember that we work for the sake of our people and we should be sure that we contribute to the Republic treasury and not to the wallet of thugs and thieves ",- Sergey Katanandov said.
