A visit of the 1st vice-prime minister of Russian Federation to Karelia
June 22-23 the 1st vice-prime minister of the Head of the Government of Russian Fedration Nickolai Aksenenko visited Karelia. He was accompanied by the Minister of Fuel and Power Economy Victor Kalyuzhny, the Minister of Ways and Means of Communication Vladimir Starostenko, the Minister of Transportation Sergey Frank, the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Russia Michail Vanin, the Chairman of the State Committee on the Problems of the North Vladimir Goman, the Leader of the Federal Service of Forest Industry Valery Shubin, the President of ОАО "Lukoil" Vagit Aleklerov, the President of "Rosneft"

On June the 3rd Nickolai Aksenenko and the Head of the Government of Karelia Sergey Katanandov visited Segezhsky and Kondopozhsky Pulp and Paper Mill VAO "Kondopoga" the sittings on the problem of the industry and on the investment project of Karelia were held.
The 1st vice-prime minister believes that the government of the republic and the leadership of pulp and paper enterprises tries their best to reach stability and increase the production volume. Nickolai Aksenenko also consider that one of the options to improve the situation might be to integrate them into association but this problem is to be discussed both with the leadership of the republic and with the leaders of the enterprises. "In general, - he highlighted - I was quite impressed how the enterprises face the problems and cope with them."
In the course of the meeting in Kondopoga Nickolai Aksenenko also assured the leaders of the republic and of the Kondopozhsky pulp and paper mill that the cooperative association "Kondopoga" will get "all the neccessary guarantee documents from the Russian government to attract the foreign bank credit. As N. Aksenenko put it, it would be "unforgivable mistake to leave such important and big enterprise as Kondopozhsky PPM ". without support. He also stated that the Russian government will
also" keep working with the mill"Segezhabumprom" ,which is one of the biggest producers of paper and paper bags in Russia.
In general the economic situation in the republic N. Aksenenko viewed as positive. "In Karelia they know what to do first", he said.
In the oppinion of the 1st Substitute of the Head of the Russian Minister Chamber, in the economics of the republic "there is a considerable shift to stabilisation, and that`s why the Russian government is ready to assist the development".
At the meeting was also discussed the set of big investment projects, which are planned to be fulfilled by the government of Karelia. Nickolai Aksenenko showed great interest in the construction of the first in Russia enterprise to produce the fish fodder and the unique enterprise " The Karelian berry", which is supposed to produce juices made of ecologically pure wild growing berries- black bilbberries, red bilbberries, cranberies, cloudberries.
