The Visit of the Delegation of the Republic
of Byelorus
June 26-28 with an official visit the delegation of the republic of Byelorus
led by the 1st Substitute of the Prime-minister of the republic Vasiliy Dolgolev
stayed in Karelia. In the course of the visit the negotiations were held with
the leadership of Karelia on cooperation work between the two republics. The
members of the delegation also were Valentin Gurenovich, the general director of
the plant "MAZ", Vladimir Yalushko, the director of the firm "National
Industry", Oleg Danilov, the general director "Byelrusauto", Vladimir Verbitsky,
the 1st substitute of the general director interstate financial-industrial group
"Electronic technology", Victor Stepanov, the supervisor of the affairs of the
Executive Committee of the Union of Byelorus and Russia and other officials and
leaders. The delegation visited agricultural enterprises of the republic, AO
"Kondopoga", check-in point Vyartsilya, the town of Sortavala and the Valaam
island.
"We are sure that our cooperation work will be successful and fruitful", -
marked the leaders of the two republics in the course of the ceremony of signing
the agreement between the
Republic of Karelia and the Republic of Byelorus, held in Petrozavodsk June,
28th. The agreement was signed by the Head of the Government of Karelia Sergey
Katanandov and the 1st Substitute of the Prime-minister of the Republic of
Byelorus Vasiliy Dolgolev. It is the fourth big agreement on cooperation signed
by the leadership of Karelia with the partners from Russia and CIS. The
agreement
envisions the contacts of the two republics in the sphere of trade, economics,
scientific -technical development and culture. The determined priorities are:
agricultural and road-constructing equipment delivery to Karelia,
forest-processing and pulp and paper complex product delivery to Byelorus, Minsk
enterprise participation in remodeling of the Onega tractor plant and
agricultural enterprises of Karelia, mutually beneficial contacts in
agriculture, contacts between the enterprises of machine-making industry and
forest complex and trade chambers. The agreement also specifies cooperation in
medicine equipment delivery and medicines, mutual presentations of enterprises,
information exchange, the opening in Petrozavodsk of the trade house "Byelorus".
Soon in Minsk the days of Karelia will be held, and the days of the Republic of
Byelorus will be held in our republic. Also a responsive visit to Byelorus of
the delegation of Karelia is being planned.
