The leader of the Federal forest economy service Valery Shubin has been staying for two days in Karelia. He came on the invitation of the Head of the Government RK Sergey Katanandov. The leader of the forest service of Russia took part in the sitting of the government dedicated to the problems of forest utilization, forest protection and interrelations with the public organizations, visited the foresteries in Sortavalsky and Lachdenpochsky districts, on the island of Valaam, the arboretum in Novaya Vilga and the National park "Vodlosersky".
To close his visit Valery Shubin conducted a meeting with the leaders of the republican forestries. As the result of the meeting The protocol of intentions between the Federal forest economy service and the Government of the Republic of Karelia about co-operation work while accomplishing the authorities in utilization, guard and protection of the forest fund of Russian Federation and reforestation in the Republic of Karelia.
The protocol was signed by Valery Shubin and the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov.
In the nearest future the parties intend to sign the Agreement about co-operation work in details. In the course of the meeting Valery Shubin informed that the Federal service planned to increase the financing of the forest guard of the republic for 2 mln rubles next year. Besides, Rosleschoz together with the Government of Karelia are supposed to take measures for air-forest guard, reforestation work in the park "Vodlosersky" and the Valaam island inspection. highlighted the unsatisfactory work to prevent forest fires, recommended to improve the relationships with the local power bodies and pointed to the need to evaluate the forest resources.
