The Working Visit of the Deputy of the Head of the Government RF Valentina Matvienko to the Republic of Karelia
The visit of the Deputy of the Head of the Government RF Valentina Matvienko was held on the 5th-7th of September.
On September, 6 she visited the Children Republican Hospital, Petrozavodsk State University, the Wedding Palace. In the afternoon she held a meeting with the leadership of the republic on the social problems of Karelia. Then the press conference was held where Valentina Matvienko, the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov and the head of the Chamber of Representatives of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia Valentina Pivnenko.
Valentina Matvienko considered Karelia is "a successfully working region" and she also marked" the positive trends in the economics" having been established recently. She highly estimated the work of the Children Republican Hospital and the Republican Prenatal Center. But Valentina Matvienko stated that the equipment in the system of the public health care needs drastic renovation. She also promised that 20 Karelian children will have their surgery performed in Moscow free of charge.
The debt for children allowances makes up 170 mln 682 thousand rubles in the republic. Valentina Matvienko and the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov came to agreement to look for the additional funds on behalf of the Russian government. In September of the current year Sergey Katanandov promised to release 20 mln rubles for the children allowances.
Valentina Matvienko also expressed her perfect willingness to participate in the accomplishment of the joint document of Russian and Karelian governments on the Valaam island revival.
In the course of the visit the Deputy of the Head of the Government of Russia also visited "Kivatch" and Marcial Waters" spas. On September, 7 Valentina Matvienko left for St.Petersburg.
