The European Union Programs in Karelia

Since 1997 the following TACIS programs have been carried out in Karelia:

Within the frames of these projects the so called "key equipment" has been already supplied. As a rule the equipment is to be supplied for 10-15% of the total project cost. For example in the project "Forest Resourses Management For Vodlosersky National Park" the buiding for conducting workshops and conferences has been already built, boats, cars,a specialized forest truck, tourist equipment have been purchased for the sum more than 150 thousand dollars; for the project "Support of the Public Health..." medical eqipment for two general practicions have been purchased in the settlement of Haalalampi (Sortavala) and the setllement of Suna (Kondopoga) and in Olonets for the sum more than 60 thousand dollars; for the project "The State and Municipial Management Development"computers and other equipment has been purchased for the Northern-Western Affiliate of Academy of State Service attaced to the President of the RF for the sum more than 50 thousand dollars and so on and so forth.

The Program of Reform Support in the area of Public Health and Social Protection
in the RK for 1995 - 2000.

  • The Institute of Public Health (The Netherlands).

The Development of the State and Municipial Management
(2 mln EQU)

The executives of the project:
  • Nomisma (Italy),
  • Institut Regional D'Administration de Lille(France),
  • Sodeteg (France),
  • Svenska Kommunuforbundet (Sweden),
  • EURO Institut (Germany),
  • Kommunernes Landsforeningen (Denmark);
The recipients of the project:
  • Northern-Western Affiliate of Academy of State Service attaced to the President of the RF,
  • The Administration of the Head of the Government of the RK

Forest Resourses Management of the Nothern-Western Part of Russia. The Karelian project
(2,5 mln EQU)

  • The StateForest Service of Finland,
  • Yakko Pyuryu Consulting Ltd (Finland),
  • ÈÆÍ France International (France),
  • Satellitbuild AB (Sweden).
The recipients of the project:
  • The Vodlosero National Park

The Development of the Resourses of Energy in Karelia
(2 mln EQU)

  • ESB International (North Ireland),
  • InnoTec (Germany),
  • Terveruukki (Finland)
The recipients of the project:
  • The Regional Comission of Economy of Energy,
  • SC Karelenergo.

The Centre of Economy of Energy
(the affiliate of the Centre of Economy of Energy in St.Petersburg (2 mln EQU)

The executives of the project:
  • LDK Consultans, Engineers and Planers SA (Greece),
  • Danish Energy Agency (Denmark),
  • Danish Technology Institute (Denmark);
The recipients of the project:
  • The Regional Comission of Economy of Energy,
  • Petrozavodsk Dairy Plant "Slavmo"

Management Training
(co-project with Archangelskaya oblast - 3,065 mln EQU)

  • Business College named after Nils Brook (Kopenhagen, Denmark)
