The historical art exposition "Secrets of the forgotten capital" is placed in the museum (Uritsky str., 30). 1570 exhibits are involved in the exposition, among which female ornaments made of river pearls, icons, copper utensils, a breadboard model of a merchant's store, a wooden breadboard model of Olonetky fortresses.

The museum is equipped with computers that allows to publish posters, booklets and other advertising production of small circulations. The fund of the museum totals more than 19 thousand exhibits, most of which are 100-150 years old. Its basis is compiled of the ethnographic collections describing family life, occupations, ceremonies and beliefs of Karelian and Livviks of Olonetsky district in 19-20 centuries.

The rare subjects of christian and pagan cult are kept in the museum: carved wooden icons, crosses, amulets, sorcerers' staffs.

Collections:

• Olonetsky embroidery: valances, towels, and cloths. Among them there are "poimittu" - the products performed by the skilled worker from Olonets Tatyana Ivanovna Rikkieva, who received silver medal on the World Fair in Paris in 1900.

The theatre of fashion and fine art studio for kids "Solar city" work at the museum. The museum constantly cooperates with scientists of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Science, PetrSU, KSPU, national library, Central State Archives of the RK.
