Pudozhsky district is the unique territory considering both its sights and the perspectives of the discovered natural resources and prospecting new deposits of non-ferrous metals, diamonds and gold.
One of the main deposits is of chromate ores called - Aganoserskoye is located on the district territory. Now ОАО "Karelmet" is perspecting this deposit with foreign partners participating. The industrial mining of the deposit needs its
foreign investor.
Diamonds and gold are still in a closed book of the natural resources of Pudozhsky district. An Australian firm "Ashton Mining Limited" is still perspecting the diamond deposits in the district.
The granit resources in Pudozhsky district allow to double its mining and processing in 1999.
In 1999 a new joint venture "MKK-Onego" will be created in the district according to the agreement between the head of Moscow government Yu.M.Luzhkov and the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia S.L.Katanandov. It will be mining the granit deposits "Nemetskaya Gora" and "Gabbro".
The forest resources of the district are 60 mln cubic meters allow to increase logging
up to the annual 1200 thousand cubic meters.
One of the real promising projects is the highway construction between Pudozhsky district of the Republic of Karelia and Kargopolsky district of Archangelskaya oblast. It is supposed to be put into operation in 1999.
This part of the highway 12 km in length is the "key part" of the international highway "Blue road", which is to connect the northern and northern-western regions of Russia with the Scandinavian countries.
The part of the highway between Pudozhsky district and Vitegorsky district of Vologodskaya oblast is being constructed. It will be put into operation in 1999.
The economic partnership in view of tourism and rest on the base of the functioning Vodlosersky national park and guarding
territory of the landscape preserve "Muromsky" doesn't take the necessary development
not counting the efforts of the National park administration "Vodlosrsky" in ecological tourism organization, covering only the narrow circle of this rest type lovers.
